Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom Luncheon

Before he zeroes in on his run for governor in 2018, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is busy with two measures on the November 2016 ballot to legalize recreational use of marijuana and tighten the state’s gun laws for background checks and large-capacity ammunition magazines. Never one to shy away from controversy, he threw himself into the fight for marriage equality as mayor of San Francisco in 2004 by allowing more than 4,000 same-sex couples to marry in the city before the courts intervened. He also started a universal health care program in the city, set stringent environmental building standards and banned plastic bags and Styrofoam containers. The former television show host and business owner is also author of the book Citizenville: How to Take the Town Square Digital and Reinvent Government.

As lieutenant governor, Newsom serves as a University of California Regent, a Trustee for the California State University System, and a member of the State Lands Commission. Please join the Sacramento Press Club at our October 19 luncheon for a conversation with Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom.
